East Africa Emergency
Millions of people across East Africa are in an immediate crisis due to poor or no rain fall at all. This has led to crops and livestocks to either wither away or die. It has caused a harsh increase in food crisis, leaving those families who cannot afford to buy food starving especially women and children. World Food Programme have reported, “The drought crisis in the Horn of Africa is a Level 2 Emergency. Some 2.9 million people in Somalia is being categorized as either crisis or emergency (Integrated Phase Classification (IPC) levels 3 and 4 and require urgent humanitarian assistance.”
